A step forward in neutrino oscillations
Posted by David Zaslavsky onI wrote this two weeks ago and somehow completely forgot to post it, so it’s old news by now, but still potentially interesting: the T2K neutrino-detection experiment, operating in Japan, announced results that directly confirm muon-electron neutrino oscillation for the first time. For more information, check out a blog post (very well written, by the way) by one of the scientists working on the T2K experiment, or the paper.
